MY NEW ART BLOG HERE I would love your company.

A New Year and a New beginning... I have created a new blog filled with old and new art. It is time for me to focus on something new. I will be leaving this blog open for inspiration and so I can look back at what I have achieved in the future but I will be adding no further content here.

I take it back....

what I said about not liking comedies... ok I still can't stand most of them but just by chance I watched Mrs Brown's Boys on T.V.  and I swear down... I almost wet myself.  I laughed and laughed and laughed until I could hardly breath!!  Now it's not for everyone cos there are lots of naughty insinuations and sweary words BUT if you aren't easily offended you just HAVE to watch it. My Sister phoned me while it was on and I could hardly speak to her I was laughing so hard. So she turned on the TV to see what all the fuss was about and the pair of us were squealing down the phone and laughing so hard that we couldn't hear each other :) Best half hour of belly laughs I've had in my life and that's no lie even though it pains me to admit to liking at least one comedy..lol
Still no creating going on BUT I came across a folder of pics of things I haven't shared on my blog yet... don't ask me why but I know I haven't ...so I will share a few until my mojo hopefully returns.... maybe I should just watch Mrs Browns Boys over and over on BBC iplayer to keep me in a good mood... perhaps my mojo will then come running back eh!
So a while ago I got a yearning to create something other than with paper and dug out some bits and pieces for easy sewing and this is what I came up with.

lots of beads, lace and heated voile and voila...a  pretty brooch and a pretty niece who kindly modelled my creations for me :-D

The next piece was made with some more of the same heated voile, some black ribbon and some beads dotted about... although it just goes to show how bad my eyesight is getting when some of the beads are shiny and some dull.  Didn't even see that till I looked at the photo.... mmmmmmm Specsavers???

I put this one onto a hair clip which dear Niece added to the hairband she was wearing.

Finally some more voile but this time heated  longer so it crinkled up more, added onto a piece of lace and topped off with a glass bead .....

and another hair accessory was born.

Hope to be back again soon

Green crochet necklace

It's soooo long since I made any jewellery and it was a nice change to get out the crocheting hook and these are so easy to make they are a breeze.

I used fabric covered wire... there are so many gorgeous colours available so you can create a piece to match any outfit.

I added a black shiny bead to the centre and two small ones at the end of the ties for a bit more glamour.  I think I've got the jewellery making bug again... watch this space :D

Is it a month ALREADY.....

I just can't believe how fast time has flown since I last posted.... it's passing me by at a rate of knots!! Could be that I've been down with the dreaded lurgy which has slowed down my decorating antics and made me take to my bed. The will to keep awake and keep going was in my mind but my body it seems had other ideas. DG began with a cold that lasted 2 days and kindly breathed my way.... the result... almost two weeks of coughing, sneezing and sleeping combined with the headaches from hell that had me wondering if I had succumbed to swine flu... but without the energy to do anything about it if I had.
I'm coming out the other end slowly however, even a short walk to the loo has me feeling like taking to my bed again.... the moral of the story..... never let a snot laden kid within ten miles of you when there's work to be done....lol
Just sharing some pics of an experimental hand crochet beaded necklace, ('nother done before today project....lol)

Hopefully I will be back really soon, as my own internet connection should be up and running in the next couple of week and ALL of my decorating will be FINISHED..... YEEEEEEEHAAAAAAA...... did I say FINISHED?....... YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
I promise you some photies next visit.... it's taken a long time but the transformation is sooooooo worth it :D

Summer Surprise charm bracelet

Well thanks to my pal Chriss.... I now have yet another addiction it seems. Headpins and shiny beads keep jumping into my lap along with charms and pliers and it looks like everyone and their aunty will be receiving baubles and bangles etc for Birthdays and special occasions. Now I'm not kidding myself that I will ever be as interested in jewellery making as I am in papercrafts and digi stuff but hey it's certainly giving my fat fingers a workout... trying to fit those pesky jump rings puts me into a right frenzied red faced sweat...lol
My nieces will be the recipients of my first attempts so hence the girly colours and charms... just love the cute dress one (bottom left) was almost tempted to keep it for myself.... but I guess I have to grow up sometime eh :)

Tag your it challenge-Time for Tea

This weeks Tag your it challenge had me thinking cake, cake, cake and after seeing all of the gorgeous DT tags with cakes on them I was glad I didn't have any in the house cos I could feel my resolve not to eat any sweet stuff quickly slipping away from me...lol

So bearing that in mind... I decided to go for something a little bit different and use my favourite Mona stamp. I often wonder what she was thinking when her portrait was painted.
So I decided that Mona wishes.....
She was sharing secrets over a cup of tea rofl...

Wonder what she could tell us if she could speak.... ok... ok.... I'm a nutter... I know...lol
I used more of the 'In with the old' paper from Funkyfairys papercrafts and hand sewed (did you get that... hand sewed) some tiny beads onto the main tag and threaded some to attach the smaller tag. I really must get me some of those gorgeous half beads that lots of peeps are using cos they look adorable and much easier than getting out the needle and thread. If I stick normal beads on they have a tendency to roll off after a while... no matter what glue I use :(
Hope the sun is shining where you are... it's been a lovely bright day here for a change, it's so nice to look out and see the sun... always makes me feel more alert and happy to be doing something :D

Mixed media wall hanging.

Well hellooooo again :) Ok Ok I know I said I had more goodies to share with you last time I posted but as with all best laid plans... things seem to take turns and twists in my life and I somehow don't get to do the things I want to do.

So the reason for my absence is that I've been taking some medication that sent me off to la la land...lol You all know I'm a bit la la anyway but hey dizziness and computers just do not mix unless it's my usual blond dizziness that is :D

I am now taking some different medication and am crossing fingers... knees AND toes... in the hope that this one will keep me in the land of living and laughter instead of under the duvet and in the land of nod. Cor it's a good job I'm not a drinker or I'd never see daylight...lol
So onwards and upwards I created this mixed media piece on a visit to my pal Chriss a wee while ago and didn't get chance to share it with you.

I have long admired the work of a lovely lady Viola who creates the most amazing mixed media pieces.... check out her blog to see what I mean, you won't be disappointed believe me.
Now I can't profess to be anywhere near her level but I have sooooo wanted to have a go at making something that had lots of layers of beautiful lace and embellishments and this is what I ended up with.
Layers of ribbon, pearl beads and lace
all hand sewn to frame this pretty image which I stamped onto cotton with Stazon and coloured with a dye based marker pen. (Not sure whose the stamped image is but will share with you later)
The background paper I used on my wall hanging is my favourite from Crafty Individuals papers as I love all of the white flowers.

More lace, fabric heart and a lovely white decorative button from my stash that I had been keeping for something special finished my piece ready for hanging.

I think that this will always be one of my most treasured pieces ... it being my first and I'm so happy with myself that I finally gave in to temptation and created what my heart was telling me I needed to.
Thanks for visiting and hope you all have a fabulous weekend.

Artygirlz challenge # 52 - Its our Birthday...

The Artygirlz challenge blog has been running for a year now... my how time flies... so Happy Birthday to the Artygirlz and hope there are many more challenges to come. The theme for the challenge is Birthdays so using papers from the Papermania cupcake collection I first of all made a birthday card...

then because sometimes I have the desire to just keep going... well gotta keep abreast of my mojo when it's in full swing...lol

out came the beads and ribbons... whooohoooo me using ribbons, usually just stroke them and drool... but well this little fun offering just wouldn't have been the same without them me thinks.

More little cupcakes followed and I turned a apple sauce jar into a little goody gift jar :)

I am always partial to a little bit of something sweet and I don't think that however old we get we should have to give up on our favourite kiddy sweets... lip lickin' stuff they are.

Who still buys rainbow drops......

Well I do!! rofl and I love 'em so couldn't think of anything better to put in my jar... go on admit it... you want some ;-)

Be back soon

hugs
