After the 29 faces challenge Ayala decided to do a June guys challenge and despite my better judgement I decided to join in. I don't DO male faces as a rule but I thought in for a penny in for a pound lol and I also gave myself another challenge to stretch me further in only allowing myself to use a pen. Total glutton for punishment. So no rubbing out... what you see is what you get ha ha.
BOY (pardon the pun...lol) it was harder than I thought and I don't know that I would fancy kissing either of these dudes but they may be to someones taste.
Maybe the sketches will get better as the month goes on...but don't hold your breath :)
Thanks for looking

Summer of Color 2... Rainbow Sherbet
Ooooh the Summer of color challenge has started again and because I loved it so much last year well I had to take part again :)
This is what Kristin says about it on her blog :-
"The Summer of Color is a six-week long party where we will focus on and create art based upon the luscious colors of our favorite ice cream flavors. "
You can create anything you like with the gorgeous colour prompt which this week is 'Rainbow Sherbet' ooooh lush lush lush!!
So I had a bit of a play digitally with one of the faces I drew for the 29 faces challenge... altered her a bit and put her onto a digital tag....
Then I remembered that I had started a large mixed media canvas ages ago that had similar colours so I ran and got it and decided to finish it. Well I think it's finished but I could always change my mind later. I've turned it round so many times to decide which way up it should be and I still haven't made my mind up. It didn't photograph too well but it is really bonny close up :)
So I thought I would show you some of the gorgeous texture...
really makes me think of the mixed sherbet bags I used to dip my fingers into when I was a kid... ooh I can almost taste it!!
I do like tactile art and wish you could see how lovely the whole canvas looks in real life. I so enjoyed it too... the fun is in the playing :)
I hope you will come and play along with us... it doesn't matter what you love to do... jewelry, atc's, painting, journals...there is room for every kind of art and next weeks colour choice is mint chocolate chip....ooooh Yeeeeesss my favorite ice cream of all time.

When do you call yourself.......
an ARTIST!! I recently created this journal page after a prompt from Dyan Reaveley on her blog here and it really got me thinking. When DO you call yourself an Artist. Friends and family sometimes say to me Wow you are a great Artist and while I am chuffed when they say that... internally I think.... is the reason they say that because I am doing something they don't do or just because they think something I create is pretty.
I have always done arty stuff especially since my teenage years but have never thought of myself as an Artist. Yes I can paint, draw, and create something pleasing to the eye but is that enough. I do 'art' just for myself... I don't sell my work (maybe cos I don't think people will buy it...lol). I wouldn't do commissions because I hate working under pressure... takes the fun out of art totally for me. I have no portfolio and I only like to create art that is pleasing to ME... I have no formal training other than what I did at school and later during college training to be a hairdresser where the art was specific to my chosen course.... so do I call myself an Artist........
well I've decided .... HELL YEAH!!! Why? ...... because I love my art... everything I create comes from the heart, it tells a story about me and what comes from within. Whether someone else likes it ...or not... doesn't matter. It is about me!! I am an Artist... because I feel like one when I have my pencils, paintbrushes or paper and glue sticks in hand. When I finish something, a sketch, a painting, a journal page... I am filled with a sense of gratitude that I have been given this gift to express myself and it makes me HAPPY.
Art hugs me during dark days of depression which lots of us Artists suffer from... it carries me through bad times like nothing and no-one else could. It is my own personal saviour and friend and makes my happy days happier still. One day I may try to sell my art and maybe someone will buy it and maybe just maybe I will feel like a professional Artist... but until then I AM AN ARTIST in my own mind... and that's all that matters.

Bee brave journal page
Now that I have stopped doing faces for a little while I thought I would go back to my journalling and other arty stuff so that I could get messy and inky and just let myself go. I just luuuuuuurve colour... the brighter the better... it makes me happy and a page full of it is just divine.
My op was successful and although I have a mouth full of stitches and look a bit like a chipmunk lol... I am glad it is all over and I am recovering quickly. Thank you for all of your well wishes xxx
This page was made with dylusions spray inks, oil pastels, some magazine cut outs and lots of doodling... Heaven! I missed the messiness.

29 Faces challenge... finale
Wow it has been a busy month but I am happy that I have managed to complete the challenge and do my 29 faces. It is lovely for me to look back and see what I have achieved and I will probably continue to do faces each week but I will be having a little break for a while and will be doing some other crafty stuff instead. I have missed the stamping and sticking etc etc so watch this space.
tooowittt toooowhoooo my owl is smiling at me lol.... he likes being first in line in my final four faces.
Next comes my lady with flowers.... one of my favourites as I love colour and I spent a lot of time with her.
My little girl had a bit of photo treatment... well she needed to look her best for her debut right.... and she wanted to look as glam as possible.
Finally come bathing beauty and I had great fun with her... hey I even created a background for her... see she' s at the seaside.. how kind am I lol.
I thought I would put all my finished faces into a collage to
look back on and so I'm sharing that too so that you can see any that you may have missed and to prove that I did finish them all.
Thanks for joining me for the challenge and hopefully I will be back soon with some other crafty offerings.
Off to hospital for surgery in the morning and I am sooooo scared but worse is the fact that I probably won't feel like doing anything for a few days .... so wish me luck and I will be back asap.

29 faces....faces 23,24 and 25
We are nearing the end of the challenge and I have to say that now I am glad of the two extra days in May for the 29 faces challenge. I just didn't have the time to post yesterday... just don't know where the hours went and by the time I realised I hadn't blogged I was soooo tired that I just didn't have the energy or the inclination to do anything but snuggle under the duvet and get some Zzzzzz's. So I missed sharing but I hope you will enjoy my faces today.
Face #23 is a little more childlike than most of my faces and I have to say I love her... she is MY personal favourite out of all of the sketches I have done. I managed to do her hair properly AND give her eyelashes, so completed in every way which makes me happier than you will know...lol
Face #24 is a pen sketch coloured with pencils... a bit labour intensive and also not picture box pretty but brilliant for getting those fingers working and being ink I had to take care not to make mistakes. I love my putty rubber lol ... but it would have been no use here.
Face #25 is another pencil sketch that I coloured digitally. She came together nicely and I am getting quicker thanks to this challenge. Hey if you don't use it... you lose it (that's the saying isn't it)...it's true in many ways but I have found that the less I draw the harder it becomes next time I pick up my sketchbook. So this challenge has been wonderful for me because I feel that each day I have pushed myself further and now I'm not putting my sketches aside half finished to go back to on another occasion.
Thanks for looking and I will be back to share my final 4 faces tomorrow. I won't be posting for a few days after that as I am going into hospital for day surgery so I hope you have enjoyed this months art... as much as I have x

29 Faces.... face#20.face#21 and face#22
Oooooh I am on the home stretch.. only two more days to go and I can give my eyes and hands a bit of a rest lol. The first is an ink sketch a bit different from my normal stuff...coloured digitally. It takes me so long to do a pencil sketch sometimes that I had to have a break and do something quick.
This one was a pencil sketch... coloured digitally... I just don't have time to paint manually as well as the sketching and besides digital colouring is cool and fun.
Finally for today I'm sharing another coloured doodle face.
Thanks for visiting and thanks for all your lovely comments... I appreciate every one.

29 Faces...Faces 17,18 and 19
OMG I am a slave to my art but for once in my life I am determined to complete a challenge. If only I hadn't started late...lol Still it HAS been fun and has totally pushed me to do something which I'm glad of because I had been so neglecting of my arty stuff and this challenge has shown me that doing it does make me happy and I should do something every day.
I won't waffle on just share with you a little about each face.... Face#17 is hand drawn and coloured digitally.....
Face#18 is painted with watercolour on top of a Dylusions ink background....
and finally Face#19 is a pencil sketch which is my favourite thing to do.... so relaxing!
Thanks for looking... back with another three tomorrow.

29 Faces.... Face#15 and Face#16
Wow where has the day gone.... it's almost over and I nearly forgot to blog my faces for today. I blame it on the sunshine... I'm not complaining mind, it is glorious being warm without waiting for a hot flush. I don't mind having my own personal central heating but it doesn't switch on until inconvenient times... usually when I'm trying to sleep. The joys of middle age ho hum.
Today I'm sharing a journal page and although I usually write somewhere on my pages I just couldn't seem to on this one. I think I'm afraid to spoil it as I really like it for a change.
I guess I will leave her alone for now until maybe inspiration strikes... or maybe I should just let her eyes do the talking.
This sketch is one I started a while ago but didn't like so I've changed her eyes, nose, mouth and hair... okay almost all of her lol... but now she appeals to me more.
See you tomorrow... think I am going to have to share 3 a day from now on cos I am running out of days and still a lot of faces to do....oooer

Paint Party Friday and 29 Faces
I laughed so hard when I finished this journal page (and face#14). I normally paint in my journal on my knee and don't always realise I've gone wrong until I stand back.... that'll teach me. I really need to practice profiles... ooops Mick Jagger comes to mind.... not a good look for a girl lol
The background was done with Dylusions inksprays and then I used watercolour pencils over the top. I'm soooo glad they aren't MY chin and lips. Oh well at least I can laugh about it!!
I'm happier with my sketch although she's a bit futuristic... my imagination works in mysterious ways!
Along with 29 faces I'm linking up with Paint Party Friday today.
Thanks for looking
hugs
