A New Year and a New beginning... I have created a new blog filled with old and new art. It is time for me to focus on something new. I will be leaving this blog open for inspiration and so I can look back at what I have achieved in the future but I will be adding no further content here.

Book of Faces

Remember this gorgeous book that my lovely friend Sandy Poppins made for me... well I pondered and pondered over what to do with it and eventually decided to fill it with faces to use as inspiration when my mojo gets stuck. I'm not happy with all of them but it was a bit of an experiment so I'm happy with how my little book turned out.  I decided to share them all in this post as I may not be around for a while... my laptop has died again and I'm hoping my lovely Brother can fix it but it could be a while.  I've borrowed DG's little one today for this post today but as I also broke my glasses by sitting on them!!! lol.... it's not the best option for me.  Anyway hope to see you soon and hope it's not too picture heavy for you.

Shoes art journal page

Who doesn't like shoes.... answers on a postcard please...lol.   Well I do... but they gotta have heels to be branded favourites.  I don't just like wearing them... I love looking at them too.  I don't have as many pairs as I used too... but if I was rich I would have a room full!!

This is the last painterly page for now... but I have been doing more with my dylusions ink sprays so still have more to share.

Red dress journalpage

This week will be all about journalling pages... because despite my laptop and my drawing tablet both dying last week  I at least had my camera  and my oh so slow desktop computer to get me by... that was until my camera decided not to play either... OMG how much bad luck can someone have in a week!!  So I'm afraid although I have some yummy goodies to share I have to rely on my scanner for now.

So another painterly page ... this time overpainting images taken from magazines after doing the background.

Bits of doodling and cut out text.

Thanks for looking. Be back soon.

Another painterly journal page.

You can tell spring is in the air... all the bonny colours are coming out to play.  When I started this page I was thinking Carmen Miranda...ish.  Instead of fruit and a pretty face though... I came up with circles and abstract but even though my girlie has no eyes... she still thinks 'She's all that!!' lol

Not my usual thing but it's fun to experiment and stretch the bounderies from time to time.

Go get out your bright colours and play.... go on... you know you want to.

Springtime...

...makes me want to paint with pretty colours... so I did a background of acrylics and watercolour and created a pretty lady to enjoy the flowers.

The sun is glorious here so I may just have me a lovely creative weekend.  Hope you find time to play too.

Healing Invitation Angel

I'm sad because this is the last week of The Willowing course by Tam... it's been a wonderful journey... and a little emotional at times.  I have learned such a lot and I have loved getting into painting (ok so you didn't notice that right...lol).

This final week we had to create a Healing Inspiration Angel and it was great... I even did my Angel on an A3 sheet so I could enjoy it for longer.  It was a bit of a challenge painting so large but I did have a great time doing it.

My painting journey hasn't ended with the course though... I will carry on learning ...this is just the beginning :D  I can't wait to do more.
The course is going to be up indefinitely on the Willowing ning site so if you would like to take part click on the link on the sidebar on the right and have some fun learning new things... it is really fab...believe me :D

Pretty in Pink

Okey dokey I promised to share more of my painting that I've been doing over the last weeks and although there has been lots of trial and error and lots of paintings that I am not over impressed with .... this is my favouritest one of all.

I am not one to blow my own trumpet BUT I can't beeeeelieve that I drew and painted this.... each time I look at it it makes me feel all warm inside (and to be honest I get a bit choked up  too cos I feel like I am finally realizing something inside me that I thought just wasn't there).

I think that no matter what I draw and paint in future... my pretty little girl will ALWAYS be my favourite...  she created a moment of awakening and I love her for it :D

Mixed Media dress

Do I like getting messy... you betcha... the messier the better... it's the cleaning up I don't like.  I haven't taken part in Margarets Dress it up challenge for ages... despite the best laid plans... I get sooooo sidetracked :D  There are just sooooo many things I want to do and try that there just aren't enough hours in the day!!

I love sloshing paint around and made a background using acrylic paint... pva glue... watercolour paint and inks. Placing the colour randomly on the sheet along with the glue.  Then I bubbled it with a heat gun... it's really cool doing that... magic before your eyes... just love the texture it creates.  I then just cut out the dress shape from the piece I painted and shaped it a little so it didn't look flat.

I just adore Autumn colours so I think this is gonna be one of my most favourite of the dresses I've done :D
To see the other dresses for October go here.
Hope you are having a good weekend.

SCD challenge - Crowns

Well it's week 4 of SCD challenge's Birthday month and the DT have produced loads of fab inspiration.  This weeks challenge is 'Crowns' and I loved doing this one.  The stamp I used was a freebie from Craftstamper magazine.  I used it for the background and then stamped it in part again for the crown using distress inks to colour it in.

I have a few re-inker bottles and I love to put some ink on a craftmat and then pick it up with my waterbrush and paint the colour in.  It gives a deeper colour this way and I can be precise.

I missed last weeks challenge...not being at home... but as I adore all thing to do with 'Paris' which was the theme... I had a little catch up.
I also discovered another little trick with the distress inks quite by accident.  That is that if you apply it to certain types of paper and card (you have to experiment cos it doesn't work with them all) and allow it to air dry and stamp over it with Stazon... you can remove colour from within the image to reveal the white base.

I use my waterbrush for this as it's more precise.  I paint the area just with water and then blot out the colour with kitchen roll.  You can then leave the area white or repaint with diluted colour.  Cool eh!!

Sunday Stamper challenge 97

This is the first time I have joined in with the Sunday Stampers challenge but this fab new stamp from Crafty Individuals fits the theme this week which is "Birds".  I stamped the whole image with Stazon and then coloured my background with Distress Inks adding droplets of water afterwards to remove some of the ink to create this gorgeous delicate background.

I then stamped the whole image again cutting out the bird segments seperately and water coloured these with various Distress inks and my trusty water pen (which I couldn't live without...what a fab tool it is).  I then added these segments over the originals with 3d foam pads.

I had originally intended to turn my finished stamped piece into a card but then I decided I liked it too much to give away.... so I distressed an Ikea photo frame which had a perfectly sized mount for my birds and now it's gonna take pride of place in my kitchen where I have decided to have my ART WALL...lol

Well I've started now so I am gonna have to fill it...lol   It will be nice to just pop in and look at my wall for inspiration when I need it... instead of having all my pieces tucked away in folders and containers and it will be sooooo colourful... which I love :D
Have a great day

ATC challenge- zetti

The lovely and ever so talented Hermine is this months guest artist for the Artist Trading Club and she has chosen Zetti as the theme for our atc challenge. Loving it...loving it.... loving it!!! Thank you Hermine :D
My mojo seems to have returned big style just in time it seems. Well actually it's gone into overdrive cos even though we're only supposed to do 5 atc's keeping one ourselves and sending the other 4 for swaps.... I did 9 rofl.
Actually did some stamping...
and doodling.... some collage...
and some watercolour backgrounds too as a home to my luscious ladies...lol
I would never have been brave enough to have been a Goth but doing a Gothic atc was such a lotta fun.
If you'd like to join in with the challenge and receive some fabulous swaps you still have time as the challenge is open until the end of the month. Check out the links in the comments section on this post on the Artist Trading Club blog to see some amazing artwork and to see what you could receive in your swap.
Happy Crafting
